Stream To Instagram

Instagram Live can be streamed with RTMPS using a Server URL and Stream Key from Live Producer. This guide shows how to retrieve them and configure them in the Produce page Restream section.

What You Need

  • An Instagram account with access to Live Producer.
  • A ShowUs show ready on the Produce page.
  • Your Instagram live destination details: Server URL and Stream Key.

Step 1: Retrieve Instagram Stream API Key

  1. Open Instagram Live Producer in your browser and sign in to your account.
  2. Click the Create (plus icon) button on the left sidebar and select Live video.
  3. Enter a title for your stream and choose your audience (Public, Followers, or Private).
    • For testing, you can select Private to keep the stream hidden.
    • For going live to your followers, select Followers or Public.
  4. Click Next. A screen will appear displaying your Stream URL and Stream Key
  5. Copy both values exactly as shown.
  6. Keep this data private. Anyone with the key can stream to your Instagram live destination.

Step 2: Add Instagram Destination In Produce Page

  1. Open your show in the Produce page.
  2. In the Restream section, paste your stream Server URL and Stream Key into the appropriate fields.
  3. Click Add Destination.
  4. Confirm the destination appears in the destination list.
  5. If it shows as Disabled, click Enable.

Important Notes

  • Instagram keys can expire. If streaming fails, regenerate and update key.
  • Always use the RTMPS Server URL provided by Instagram.
  • Do not share your Stream Key in chat, screenshots, or recordings.
